Lake Wildfire Resilience Workforce Program
The Tribal EcoRestoration Alliance and Workforce Alliance of the North Bay have partnered to offer a series of trainings designed to support Lake County residents to pursue career pathways in caretaking the land we call home. More information about trainings and registration below. Eligibility: These trainings are available at no cost for low-moderate income Lake County residents, aged 18 or older. Limited assistance for childcare and transportation may be available for those with a demonstrated need.

Basic 40: Wildland Firefighter/Firelighter Certification
This five-day hands-on introductory course combines National Wildfire Coordinating Group Basic Wildland Firefighter curriculum with stewardship content. The course includes work capacity test (WCT) and practice shelter deployment and meets NWCG requirements for qualification as a Firefighter Type 2 (FFT2). Online completion of Course IS-700 is required prior to the start of the course.
Dates: Monday-Friday, July 14-18, 2025
Hours: 8am - 4pm Daily

Fire & Forestry Career Training
This four-week intensive offers participants a solid foundation to pursue a career in land stewardship, especially the realms of fire and forestry. You will gain wide-ranging skills including an understanding of the local ecology, plant identification, restoration, chainsaw skills, job readiness skills, and more. You will also have the opportunity to learn from Native land stewards and the practices that have kept our land in good health since time immemorial.
There will be 10 On-the-Job Training positions open on TERA’s hand crew after the 4-week training for individuals who want to keep building their skills as land stewards in a real world setting. This 10 week program is a great launching pad for entry level careers.

Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must be age 18 and up, Lake County resident and low-moderate income.
Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis.
What proof of documentation is needed?
If accepted into the program, you may be asked to provide the following:

Can I apply for both trainings, or just one of them?
Please select your interest in our Basic 40 and/or the Fire & Forestry Career Training in our application. Please note that these are two separate trainings.
Our Basic 40 is from July 14-18 and the Fire & Forestry Career Training is from August 4-29.
